You may be able to see a giant Crucifix under Lake Michigan this weekend. According to MLive.com the 11-foot, 1,800-pound, Italian marble statue of a crucified Christ is in about 20 feet of water at the bottom of Little Traverse Bay near Petoskey. It was put there as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the water. Divers often get to view the crucifix in the summer months, however this will give non-divers a chance to see it, weather permitting. The Petoskey Area Visitor Bureau has scheduled the event from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 9. Viewing is at guests’ own risk. Depending on the weather, the event could still be cancelled. Visitors are asked to look for the tent. If there is no tent, there is no event.
