The City of Grand Rapids is offering free drop off locations for Christmas trees, as well as priced curbside removal through February 1st. The free drop off locations for trees:
- Riverside Park (north entrance), 2001 Monroe Ave. NE
- MacKay-Jaycees Park, 2531 Kalamazoo Ave. SE
- Lincoln Park, 231 Marion Ave. NW (tree drop off is in the west parking lot off Garfield Street at Lincoln)
- Huff Park, 2286 Ball Ave. NE
You can also receive curbside removal for $2.50. A purple yard waste tag is required and must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on trash day. The tree must be free from decorations and tree stand, and the purple tag must be visible. City workers my fine or warn a property owner if the tree is not properly tagged.
The bulk yard waste purple tags can be purchased at Grand Rapids City Hall, 300 Monroe Ave. NW, at the Monroe-level customer service desk. Collected trees will be chipped and “returned naturally to the ground,” according to the city.
The programs end Feb. 1.
